We invite you to relax at Ylä-Tuuhonen Farm in the picturesque countryside scenery of Tuuhoskylä village in Ruovesi, Finland. Our almost 400-year-old ancestral home is surrounded by Lake Tarjanne, lush spruce forests and rich fields.

At our farm lives also the Finnish Lapphund Käpy, three country cats: Kaino, Lylle and Mustasormi and a small flock of sheep. The sheep graze the traditional biotope areas near the yard of our farm.

Stay at a farm

Our traditional accommodation provides a unique atmosphere that guarantees you a restful night’s sleep. Stay in a charming room in the guesthouse or book your stay in our old storehouse cabin. A true, idyllic countryside experience awaits!

Enjoy homecooked food

Our country breakfast includes organic oatmeal from the farm’s own grain and rolls baked by the lady of the house. The scents of traditional and tasty homecooked classics waft from our dinner table. We can also customise our menu according to your dietary restrictions, please book your meals in advance.

Relax in the sauna

In the summertime, you can relax in our lakeside saunas by the glistening Lake Tarjanne. In the winter, we heat up the sauna in the Saunatupa building in our courtyard. The wood for heating our saunas comes from the farm’s own forest. Let go of stress and rush in the lingering heat of our traditional smoke sauna!

Activities in surrounding areas

Borrow the farm’s rowing boat and fall in love with the lakeside scenery of northern Pirkanmaa. Hike in Helvetinjärvi National Park or in Siikaneva swamp area and soak in the versatile scenery of nature in Ruovesi. Experience a wide variety of culture, arts, and music in Ruovesi or near municipalities. We warmly recommend a visit to the childhood landscapes of the farmers wife, Mänttä, as well as getting to know the area’s most diverse art exhibitions in the Serlachius museums.

Activities at the farm

Our beach is located approximately 400 metres away from the farm courtyard. When you want to get to know the stunning scenery of Lake Tarjanne, you can find a rowing boat and a wide canoe from the shore that are at your disposal. If you want to rent the rowing boat or canoe for the entire day, we charge a small extra fee.

In the winter, when the weather is nice, the farm has a few traditional kicksleds available for you to use.

Indulge in pure and traditional flavours

Start your day with the farm’s delicious country breakfast or take a seat at our traditional dinner table – delicacies made by the farm staff are available upon order. Breakfast and dinner are served in the farm’s main house as buffet service. In the summer, we ring the farm’s old dinner bell, and its cheery chime invites you to enjoy a hearty meal.

At the dinner table, we make use of our own produce and ingredients from local producers and turn them into delicious, traditional dishes. Some of the ingredients we use are also organic.

Stay at a farm in an atmospheric log building

At Ylä-Tuuhonen Farm, you can stay in a peasant-style room emanating the warm atmosphere of days gone by. History blends seamlessly together with all modern amenities, making your stay with us cosy and comfortable. Several generations have looked after the farm and its buildings. The buildings have been renovated with natural materials, honouring traditions, which ensures they are healthy and breath properly.

Rooms with a cosy atmosphere and charming storehouse cabins that remind you of days gone by invite you to enjoy a restful night’s sleep at our farm. You can find detailed descriptions and photos of our accommodation from our website or from our online booking system. Our accommodation rates include bed linen and towels as well as cleaning. We would like to thank you for a longer stay at our farm and offer a -10% discount on the accommodation price for a stay of at least two nights. In addition to this, a two-night stay includes a one-hour sauna in a continuously heated sauna. Please notice that we have special pricing for holidays, such as Midsummer and Christmas.
