Varjola offers perfect holiday packages with Finnish sauna experience and traditional Finnish cuisine. You can choose from multiple activities for example rafting, fishing or snowmobile safaris. Varjola is family-owned countryside resort in Lakeland, with large scale of activities for summer and winter season, for example Snowmobile safaris, Husky sled tours, Cooking in the forest trips.

Quality standard rooms and apartments are located near services but in the middle of nature. Even though we are located in peaceful lake and river area, it is only 30 minutes from Jyväskylä city center and 3,5 hours from Helsinki.

Smoke sauna experience

Well-being, resting and relaxing has been the essential part of the original Finnish sauna experience for centuries, all the way from our ancestors to this day. The Finnish sauna has seen thousands of stories and it is a place where time stands still for a while. Sauna is about purification, healing and finding the harmony between mind and body. In sauna, you can enjoy being in the moment and taking time to focus on yourself. Sauna has also a strong connection to the nature – nothing completes the Finnish sauna experience like cooling down in the pure water of a blue lake and admiring the silent, green forest landscapes.

It is possible to book smoke sauna/other saunas for private booking, or book place from open sauna evening.

Open Sauna in Varjola

Enjoy the balmy heat of Varjola’s traditional smoke sauna. Relax in a warm Jacuzzi and cool down in the refreshing lake.

Sauna time is 2 hours and you can use freely sauna, jacuzzi and recreation room while this time.

Sauna is shared by women and by men, so bathe with your bathing suit on and bring a towel as well.

Conferences, events and celebrations

Varjola has offered services and facilities for business customer for over 20 years: countryside peace, private surroundings and Finnish nature – what would be more ideal for a succesful meeting! We have also held hundreds of weddings, with all inclusive service.

We’ve made things nice and easy for those of you looking for a venue for your next meeting, team building event or conference. You can have all that you need from the same place, without using hours in buses or traffic.

Event venue with all services

Varjola and its quality event venues are available for different occasions and groups. You can book a large Hay attic for over 100 persons for meetings and events, with large scale of services and caterings. Nature and outdoors are just outside, so it is easy to combine outdoor programs to your meeting day.

Dining

Varjola offers pure and traditional Finnish cuisine with locally grown products. Our restaurants serve you with Finnish old-time hospitality and warmth.

Bistro Sylvi

From June to August Bistro Sylvi is open form Tuesday to Saturday,

Bistro Sylvi is located in Varjolas old main house, and it is named after the third matron of Varjola, Sylvi. Lady had a passion for picking berries and mushrooms from the forest, growing potatoes and she appreciated good cooking.

Barn restaurant

On winter we open old Barn restaurant. The Barn restaurant is comonly open on Friday and on Saturday. Otherwise, Barn restaurant is open on request, so please contact us by email to check updates for restaurant opening times.

Barn restaurant serves also rich countryside breakfast.

3 Course Finnish Salmon Dinner in the Hut

Enjoy unique dinner in Varjola´s Lappish Hut where our outdoor chef prepares main course salmon by the fire, in the hut while you can relax and watch the cooking process.

In Varjola´s rooms and apartments you can have both hotel quality and countryside nature! In Varjola Resort you are staying in the middle of nature, but also within walking distance to activities and Varjola restaurant. Enter to beautiful forest landscape straight from your room terrace! Accommodation includes healthy countryside breakfast in our Barn restaurant, so you can start your day with energy. You can relax in forest and nature, or take adventurous activities to your day. We have wide range of activities to explore nature on your own, and activities weekly program, where you can find for example rafting, yoga, kayaking and snowmobile safaris. Also Finnish sauna is must have for your visit!

Extra beds are situated in the open balcony, and the steps to the balcony are very steep. Due to steep steps, we recommend balcony only for older children and adults (minimum 5 years)
