Experience beautiful countryside in Ähtäri

We are Auni and Altti Syrjänen, owners of Valkeisen Loma Farm and we welcome you to stay at our farm. We are open year-round and offer comfortable accommodation in a newly built country hotel or in rustic, yet cosy apartments and cottages.

Our farm is situated in Ähtäri, tucked away in a secluded spot and it is the perfect location for a relaxing and peaceful farm holiday. You may wish to enjoy some treks and walks and even be tempted to do some foraging in the nearby woods.

The great outdoors surrounds us, and it is easy to have plenty of fun trying outdoor activities such as cycling, rowing or swimming in the lake. Our rowing boat and kayak are available for our guests for free. We also have bicycles for hire.

We are ideally placed for visits to Ähtäri Zoo with its Snow Panda House, Ähtäri golf course and other attractions. Ähtäri Zoo with its Nordic animals and giant pandas is a mere 10 minutes’ drive away.

Whether you are looking for B&B or self-catering accommodation for individuals, couples, families or small groups, Valkeisen Loma is a great choice. We offer bed and breakfast accommodation during summer months, but at all the other times, breakfast is available on request.

At Valkeisen Loma you can enjoy the traditional way of Finnish farm life. The farmyard is surrounded by forest on all sides, while Lake Valkeinen is just a stone’s throw away. Along the lakeside shore you will find a sauna and a beach for swimming. Lake Valkeinen is a clear-water lake and perfect for fishing – both summer and wintertime!

In the farmyard, you may come across our resident dogs, cats, bunnies, sheep, horse, pony and of course – reindeer!

When you visit our reindeer park, you’ll feel like you’re in Lapland. You can feed our reindeer with lichen or you may wish to join the reindeer walk through neighbouring woodlands.

Holiday experiences

The property has 3 rentable sauna departments, including a beach sauna and smoke sauna. Guests can rent bicycles, canoes and cross-country ski equipment on site. Children can play on the playground or see the animals on the farm during summer.

Reindeer park

When you visit our reindeer park, you’ll feel as if you’re in Lapland. Meet our friendly reindeer and learn about these arctic creatures.

At the moment, we have eight reindeer living in our park. Apprentice reindeers Visa and Valhalla are currently learning to pull sleighs. The other reindeer are Veronica, Pikku-V, Vilma, Veera and Vilja. The youngest one is Wagner, who was born in 2021.

All our reindeer are tame and love lichen, which you can feed them during your visit. You can visit the reindeer park and make friends with the herd, or even join the reindeer walk through nearby woods. Alternatively, you are welcome to buy a bag of lichen from the reception and feed the reindeer over the fence.

Smoke Sauna and hot tub

Have you ever experienced a traditional smoke sauna? Now you have that opportunity! We can heat up the centuries old, smoke sauna for you. You can also enjoy the hot tub, which is located right by the smoke sauna.

Up to 12 adults can bathe at the same time in our smoke sauna. The hot tub is suitable for up to seven people. The smoke sauna has cold water on tap and the warm water is in the large tubs. When the smoke sauna is heated, it will remain warm for up to 3 or 4 hours.

There is a changing room. The smoke sauna is located on the side of the farmyard, approximately 50 metres from the restaurant building.

Lakeside sauna

Our lake side sauna is located in a lovely spot, whence you can have easily take a dip in the lake. The sauna itself was refurbished in 2019 and it is available from spring till autumn. As the lakeside sauna is very popular, please book your slot when booking your accommodation or by check-in at the latest.

Indoor Sauna next to the restaurant

We have a high-quality sauna next to the restaurant. It is available only in the wintertime (the lakeside sauna is available in the summertime).

Restaurant Tallin Vintti

Our restaurant has two floors. Depending on the arrangement of the tables, 32-38 people can dine downstairs. There are approx. 70-80 seats on the upper floor. At its maximum, we can handle an event of about a hundred people. The great grass field in the courtyard with garden furniture provides more space for summer parties. At summer parties, the lawn is trodden hard and many program numbers, from dedications to toasts, are played outside in the sun.

During the summer, breakfast is served for guests in the restaurant and it also functions as a summer cafe throughout the summer season from Midsummer to the beginning of August.

The restaurant has a license to sell alcoholic beverages.

Countryside accommodation

As our guest, you can stay in our new country hotel or in apartments, rooms and cottages that reflect the style of old times.

Apartment Tuomas

This two-bedroom timber-built apartment is a comfortable option for your family holiday. It is located in the farmyard within easy reach of the outdoor life.

The living room is the heart of this apartment: in there you can relax by the fireplace or watch television. A small, but practical kitchen is well equipped for cottage cooking as it includes a fridge, stove, microwave oven, coffee maker, electric kettle and kitchenware.

The apartment has a bathroom with shower and two bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other one with a sofa bed and a single bed. A cot is available upon request.

Apartment Tuomas is 45 m² and is suitable for up to 6 persons sharing.

Aurinkorinne Family Rooms

These lightly decorated and air-conditioned rooms and are ideal for the whole family to spread themselves out.

They each have a bathroom with shower, fridge, coffee maker, television and an individual outside terrace area. Family rooms have either one double bed or two singe beds, and a sofa bed.

A family room (25 m²) sleeps 2 adults and 2 children. Cots are available upon request.

There is a well-equipped communal kitchen area with dining tables for all hotel customers to share.

All room prices include use of linen and towels. We also provide free Wi-Fi for our guests.

Aurinkorinne twin/double room

All rooms are en-suite and have either a double bed or two singles, each room sleeping up to two guests (15 m²).

All rooms are decorated with light colours and provide television, fridge and coffee maker, and an individual outside terrace area.

There is a well-equipped communal kitchen area with dining tables for all hotel customers to use.

All room prices include use of linen and towels. We provide free Wi-Fi for our guests.

Emilia’s Chamber (accessible accommodation)

Emilia’s room is located in one of the farmyard buildings. It is suitable for wheelchair users as there is a ramp, wide doorways and accessible toilet facilities.

Emilia’s room has a 140 cm wide double bed, a large sofa bed (160 cm), fridge, microwave oven, coffee maker, basic set of kitchenware and a television. The room is 19 m² and is suitable for up to four guests. Pets are allowed in Emilia chamber. Pet fee is 15 eur/accommodation.

Granny’s cottage

Cosy Granny’s Cottage reminds us of the olden days and is the perfect place to enjoy the Finnish farm life.

Though renovated in 2010, it has kept the charming rural feel to it well. In the summertime, you can sit on the porch and enjoy the birds singing in the nearby trees.

One-bedroom Granny’s Cottage has an open plan living space featuring an old, cast iron stove. Included within the living space is a sofa bed, a television, a small kitchenette area (with fridge, stove, microwave oven, coffee maker, electric kettle and kitchenware) and a bathroom with shower.

Cottage’s bedroom has two single beds. A cot is available upon request.

Granny’s cottage is 31 m² and accommodates up to 4 people and a baby.

Pets are allowed subject to and extra 15 euros during your stay.
