Saija Lodge is situated in the northeast of Finland, south of the Arctic Circle, in the middle of the beautiful and original Finnish nature. The lodge is built directly by the shore of the idyllic Lake Jokijärvi and is surrounded by mostly state-owned commercial timberland. A curvy country road leads to our lodge in the middle of spruce and pine forest and our huskies greet you before you enter the main building and the reception of the rustic Saija Lodge. Our manor is a wooden-built hotel, which offers accommodation, restaurant services and individual or guided activities upon pre-order all year round.

Winter

In winter you can explore the spectaculary scenery on a guided husky dog sled ride or on a snowmobile safari. You could also take part in a guided tour of snowshoe walking or cross-country skiing. If you would like to explore the surrounding on your own, we rent fatbikes, cross-country skis and snowshoes for that purpose.

Summer

During the summer season, you can choose from kayaking, fishing, hunting, berry and mushroom picking, hiking and biking. We have maps and rental equipment available for individual tours of our guests, but we can also arrange for you to be joined by a professional guide. All our activities can be tailored to your individual requirements.

Our traditional kitchen

In our kitchen, we are passionate about using only the cleanest, locally sourced ingredients. We have embraced this food philosophy for more than two decades.

By sourcing our products locally, we know that everything we serve will have that little bit more depth and flavour. The forests around us are full of berries, mushrooms and herbs, just waiting to be foraged. Our fish comes from our local waters and we use other wild ingredients whenever possible to bring a unique touch to our dishes.

The restaurant in our main building can accommodate up to 100 diners. We always serve genuine, locally sourced, northeastern fare. Our full board guests are offered a daily evolving menu featuring seasonal ingredients. Some of our most popular dishes include local varieties of fish, such as vendace, pike and whitefish, as well as cakes and bread freshly baked in our own kitchen.

You can also reserve our dining room for your own exclusive use. The venue is ideally suited for family events and business meetings alike.

Saija Lodge enjoys a wonderful lakeside location in Taivalkoski, northeastern Finland. The lodge is a traditional Finnish farmhouse offering a unique atmosphere of peace and calm.

The farmyard is flanked by log-built houses and offers unforgettable views of the nearby Lake Jokijärvi.  You are welcome to make use of our complimentary Wi-Fi in every type of accommodation.

Half board or full board is as an option available for your stay. The delicious and skilfully prepared home cooking is served in our main building.

The farmyard is flanked by 20 log-built apartments suitable for 1–4 guests. All our properties feature en-suite saunas, wet rooms and showers, along with a twin or double bedroom, living area, sauna and bathroom.

Sky cabins

Our two Sky Cabins are designed for 2-3 people and equipped like hotel rooms. The cabins feature a luxury bed directly under the glass roof, a sleep sofa, a toilet, a shower and an en-suite sauna. The kitchenette is equpiped with a fridge, micro and water kettle.
