Courtyard Olympics

There are 5-6 stations, such as frisbee, axe throwing, tandem skiing, archery, and mass-start relay races. The top three teams receive prizes.

Beer tasting

A cheerful beer tasting, for example themed around Finnish microbreweries, traditional British ales, or local flavors. Small, themed snacks can be paired with the tasting.

Gentle nature walk

A guided 2-3 km walk in the nearby Oulujoki forest, combined with gentle forest-based body exercises and insights into recovery and well-being.

Forest Wellness – Forest Olympics

Teams compete in various forest-themed activities that get the heart rate up just a little. Events include Cone Shooting, Forest Puzzle solving, and Wooden Disc Skill Relay.

Trolling Safari on the Kainuu Sea – Lake Oulujärvi

Trolling trip to Niska Ridge with a professional guide – one of Finland’s top trolling experts. No prior experience needed. Depending on the season, we target pike, zander, or trout. You can choose the target species before the trip.

Explore the beautiful Oulujoki River with a pedal kayak

A pedal kayak is a great way to combine exercise and outdoor recreation on the water! This innovative design merges the maneuverability of a traditional kayak with the efficiency of a bicycle, allowing you to move easily along the river without using a paddle. This leaves your hands free for activities such as nature photography. The trip can also be tailored for larger groups with a themed introduction to pedal kayaking.

Memorable celebrations on the banks of Oulujoki River

At Merilä Manor you can host a memorable family celebration surrounded by unique nature, and the beautiful scenery of the Oulujoki River. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a large party, we have the perfect venue and menu to suit your needs.

The idyllic and historic Vanha Pirtti is perfect for smaller events, while the bright Kaisunsali and the adjoining Puoji – with its bar and “lion’s den” – can accommodate larger parties. Accommodation is available for up to 60 guests.

All event facilities are equipped with comprehensive meeting and sound technology as well as high-speed internet. A grand piano and an electric piano are also available, and karaoke equipment can be provided if the party is keen on singing. All party rooms have easy access to Kartano’s lush courtyard and outdoor terrace.

Refreshing meetings in the tranquil countryside

Merilä Manor is an ideal setting for organising meetings or training events. We offer excellent meeting facilities along with optional catering, accommodation, and leisure activities. Whatever the season, Merilä Manor offers an idyllic and rustic setting for your meetings. The main building, originally built in 1811, along with its extensions, provides seating for up to 260 diners and conference facilities for approximately 285 people.

The Manor’s meeting packages include modern, high-quality conference technology. All meeting rooms are equipped with a wireless sound system, Wi-Fi, AV equipment (4 sets), TV panels, and two flip charts. Merilä Manor offers facilities for events of all sizes, from intimate recreational days for 10 people to large gatherings of nearly 300. In addition to the main event spaces, the Manor also features six smaller rooms for group meetings or conferences.

Relax in the heat of the sauna

Three saunas are located right next to Merilä Manor: the wood-heated Yläsauna (“Upper sauna”), the electrically-heated Alasauna (“Lower sauna”), and the traditional and idyllic Savusauna (“Smoke sauna”).

The saunas sit right on the banks of the River Oulujoki, with a dock for cooling off. We can also provide one or several portable outdoor hot tubs next to the saunas. The old log frame of the smoke sauna was hand-hewn using a broad axe and dates back to the 18th or 19th century. It was later transported to the Manor from the homestead of the late lady of the house, Kaisu, in the parish village of Utajärvi. The smoke sauna was previously used as a two-storey trading warehouse and also served as summer sleeping quarters

Delicious local food from the Manor kitchen

Merilä Manor’s food philosophy is based on top-quality raw ingredients that are transformed into delicious dishes. Great ingredients come from freshness, locality, and a clean growing environment.

The raw ingredients and processed products – such as mushrooms, meat, yoghurt, and our local specialty, Midsummer cheese (enjoyed year-round despite its name) – are all sourced locally. Wild fish comes from the waters of Rokua and Lake Oulujärvi; only the salmon is either Finnish rainbow trout or salmon from the Bothnian Bay. Whenever possible, we pick the delicious berries for our desserts and jams ourselves.

One important factor in our philosophy is our location between the Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu regions. For the most part, our menus are based on the traditions of Northern Ostrobothnia, but we also incorporate recipes from Kainuu. Almost all our dishes and baked goods, such as the delicious Manor malt bread, are made by us in the Manor kitchen.

We can accommodate up to 55 guests at a time, offering 19 rooms ranging from cosy single rooms to rooms for up to 5 people. We comply with the official MALO requirements for five-star accommodation. The idyllic chambers in the Manor, along with the well-equipped rooms in Aittahotelli and Hotel Alamerilä, are all cosy, high-class, and feature all modern conveniences.

The luxurious rooms in Aittahotelli are also equipped with mini-kitchens, but breakfast is naturally included in all our accommodation options.

In addition to food and accommodation, we organise a variety of activities for our guests. We offer a range of experiences in nature and action right on the Manor grounds – both for daredevils and for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.
