Stay in the Main House

Staying in a traditional 1880s Southern Ostrobothnian farmhouse with beautiful surroundings is an experience. Upstairs in the main building two bedrooms have been prepared for guest accommodation (3-person and 2-person rooms) with shower and toilet facilities. Breakfast is served in the main family room, called “tupa” in Finnish.

Rent a cabin

One of the cabins (1-4 ppl) is located within the peaceful nature and offers views over the village & open fields. The other (6-8 ppl) gives you the ease of staying right next to all the fun of a downhill skiing centre. The cabins are well equipped and as per usual in Finland – both have saunas as well.

Recreational opportunities and places to visit
Snowpark Parra downhill skiing area is located just 0.5 km away, 2.5 km by road.

The distance to the nearest ski trail/jogging track is 50 m. The swimming pond (tiny lake) is located 100 m away (ice swimming opportunities possible in winter) and Parra’s ”stone fields” (rock moraines) and lean-to are 0.5 km away. A disc golf course (18 holes) lies just 50 m away and Parramaja, the Pauli Nevala Hall, the Parra Goahti (Laplanders’ Hut) and the Forest Church are all located 100-150 m from the cottage. Ancient mountains trail, site of departure is the yard at Parramaja. Teuva-Karijoki trail (map in the Retkikartta-service) network, approx. 100 km. Suksenjärvi trail, offers birdwatching and other opportunities to enjoy nature.

Teuva town centre 12 km. In the centre you’ll find swimming hall and gym, also outdoorsgym, library, Orrela Culture House, cinema Kino-Kuva and summer dancing hall Kaarihovi. I Teuva’s church there is the altarpiece painted by Tove Jansson. In the center you will also find various restaurants and Alko.

Golfing at the Botnia Golf course in the village of Päntäne in Kauhajoki, 22 km by the shortest route. Motor Sports Raceway Botniaring in the town of Jurva, 36 km.

Länsimetsä Log Cottage

Mäkimökki Log Cottage

A peaceful location in the heart of nature, close to Highway 67. Located on the side of a hill, at the edge of the forest, this log cottage is also called “Lakian aukian alppimaja” – Alpine cottage opening to the plains. It features beautiful views over the village and the wide expanse of fields below the cottage.

Accommodations for 1-4 persons, extra bed available. Open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area with wood burning fireplace and kitchen nook. Small loft with sleeping area for two persons. Washroom (WC, shower and a sauna with an electric stove).

Bed & Breakfast in the Main House

Enjoy a closer view and the experience of a traditional 1880s Southern Ostrobothnian farmhouse and its surrounding grounds. Upstairs in the main building, two bedrooms have been prepared as guest accommodations (3-person and 2-person) with a shower and a WC. Breakfast is served in the main room or “tupa” of the house.

Mäki-Laurila is a National Board of Antiquities’ site listed in ”Teuva’s enclosed-yard traditional farmhouses” (www.rky.fi). The Mäki-Laurila traditional farmhouse with its surrounding farmyard grounds has been awarded the Southern Ostrobothnian Building Tradition Award and the Shield of Recognition of the Foundation for Finnish Peasant Culture.
