Isokenkäisten Klubi is a family company which provides high-quality tourist services in Kuusamo, North-East Finland.

The Klubi is situated by the peaceful, clear-water Lake Heikinjärvi, only two kilometres from the Russian border zone. The lodges of Isokenkäisten Klubi are completely surrounded by the quiet of the northern nature.

We welcome you to stay in our Wilderness Hotel Kortteeri or in one of our comfortable log cabins, relax in the gentle warmth of our Seven Star Smoke Sauna, take a refreshing dip into the cool lake water, and enjoy traditional Finnish home-cooked meals prepared with fresh, local ingredients. We also have plenty of fun-filled activities to choose from – every season of the year.

Seven star smoke sauna

Before you have experienced it, you cannot understand the blissful feeling which takes over the body after a bath in a smoke sauna. The gentle warmth and scent of our Seven Star Smoke Sauna leaves you with an ever-lasting memory. Our sauna master takes care of heating the sauna, and he also knows how to make the traditional, fragrant birch whisks. The sauna is heated with dry birch logs. Heating a smoke sauna is not a job for a busy man. Bathing in a smoke sauna is a unique experience, with peat moss treatment and a dip in the lake water, in summer from the pier, in winter through a hole in the ice. All this leaves a wonderful, relaxed feeling to the entire body.

The Isokenkäisten Klubi Seven Star Smoke Sauna is located near the main building, on the shore of Lake Heikinjärvi. The sauna seats 15 people.

In summer it is lovely to cool down on the terrace, admire the sunset and take a dip in the cool and clear lake water. In winter the terrace is illuminated by Northern Lights and thousands of stars. They are clearly visible in the dark night sky, with no city lights to disturb the view. The refreshing dip into the icy lake water is an experience you will never forget.

WILD FOOD SNACKS TO THE SAUNAS

We serve snacks to the saunas, sauna sausages and house salad, or a savoury Klubi pie (fish or meat) and salad. Our saunas are licenced for alcoholic drinks.

Meetings and trainings

• The Klubi main hall is suitable for almost every kind of event. The dining rooms seats about 90 people.
• Upstairs at the Klubi, there is the ”Affairs Room”, a meeting room for 10 people, perfect for smaller meetings or team work. Or have your event outside in the midst of nature, or at our Lappish hut (for 10 people).
• Modern meetings technology and sound system provided indoors.
• We can also organize fun activities during your meeting or event.
• Crown your event with our sumptuous dinner.

We take care of all the arrangements: conference facilities, meals, activities, accommodation and, if necessary, transportation.
You can pay full attention to your clients and the content of your meeting.

Upstairs in the main building there is a lounge for 10 people with a beautiful view over Lake Heikinjärvi. On the ground floor there is a comfortable conference room for 40 people.

Our meeting facilities are equipped with modern conference technology.

In Kuusamo there is always a reason for a party!

• In winter, the snow-covered forest gives you a true Christmas spirit.
• Under the bright spring sunshine, families gather together to celebrate graduations and special birthdays.
• In summer, when nature is green and flowers are in full bloom, it is time to celebrate weddings and have big family parties.
• In autumn, moose hunters and their families organize feasts at the end of a successful hunting season. Autumn is also a popular season for theme events.

We prepare delicious meals for your celebration, using only fresh Finnish ingredients and local products.

We are also happy to help you in planning your event from decorations to the creation of a suitable menu.

Private restaurant Klubi

Experience a tasty journey to the genuine, traditional cuisine of Kuusamo at our Private Restaurant Klubi! We serve delicious, home-cooked meals in which only the freshest of quality local and Finnish ingredients are used. Pure, local ingredients are the secret of our tasty food.

Ingredients such as wild berries, herbs and mushrooms are foraged from the nearby forests, the fish from local lakes, game meat and other ingredients from local hunters and farmers.

In addition to locally-grown quality ingredients, we take pride in the fact that our dishes are handmade in the Klubi kitchen, using carefully modernized traditional family recipes. One of our family traditions is hospitality: at our Klubi, the dinner table is always abundant.

Meals can also be served at our Lappish hut Helekuta (max. 15 people, advance booking required).

Wilderness lodges

The buildings at Isokenkäisten Klubi are covered with old, grey pine boards. The buildings are situated by Lake Heikinjärvi, a wilderness lake with clear water. Our buildings are constructed honouring the local building tradition and the delicate nature which surrounds them.

You can also spend the night in the arms of nature, in our top-quality Aurora Hut. New at Isokenkäisten Klubi, the Overwater Huts, will offer you top-class, ecological overnight experience in the midst of the beauty of nature. The Klubi area offers beds for a total of 50 people.

Our cottages and hotel rooms are comfortably decorated. The buildings adjust well to the wilderness, because they have been built using recycled materials: the life cycle of old barn walls continues in the buildings of Isokenkäisten Klubi. Our cottages are fully equipped, and all cottages have a fireplace and a private sauna. There area on-suite bathrooms in all our hotel rooms, and extra beds are also available.
