Karkausmäki Guesthouse is in Kinnula, Central Finland. We offer cozy accommodation with modern facilities.

At Karkausmäki Guesthouse you sleep well, enjoy the countryside, calm down at the lean-to by the fire and relax in the gentle loys of the sauna!

Here you can feel the atmosphere of a former lumberjacks’ cabin and relax in the gentle and humid heat of our traditional wood-heated sauna. In the light summer night you can experience the magic of the country landscape and admire the sunset at our lean-to shelter. During bright winter nights you can hear the great horned owl hooting and watch the Northern Lights dancing!

Northern Central Finland and Central Ostrobothnia offer great opportunities for hiking, trekking and moving around in the natural environment.

National parks and hiking trails

The nearby Salamajärvi National Park offers great routes for both day trips and longer hikes. The 400-year-old pine trees in Pyhä-Häkki National Park captivate the walker. They are within an hour’s drive! The distance to the Peuranpolku (Forest Reindeer Trail) and the white sands of Lake Valkeisjärvi is five kilometres. You can rent snowshoes from us for winter trips! In the summer, SUP boards, fatbikes and canoes can be rented through our partner companies. Do explore the routes and the national parks!

Indulge yourself

During your stay, you can enjoy a relaxing peat treatment on your own in the warmth of the sauna, or take a refreshing or soothing herbal foot bath.

Peat treatments as a new service are also available as individual treatments! Moreover, relaxation treatments by Löytöläntytär can be booked to take place at Karkausmäki, too!

Sauna

The Karkausmäki sauna is a sauna like no other! In the gentle warmth of the wood-heated traditional sauna, worries and troubles are forgotten.

Sauna like they just to do it in the old days. Just take your towel from your room, borrow pair of wool socks from the house, listen the birds sing on the way to sauna and enjoy!

Water is heated with wood in a big pot and be prepared to wash yourself with a bucket and a scoop.

We’ll heat sauna and hot water ready for you. The nordic bath outside the sauna can also be booked pre-heated.

Meetings at Karkausmäki

The meeting room is a cozy living room kitchen. In the heat of the fireplace, 5-20 people meet comfortably.

In the summertime, there is an additional space with a large terrace and lean-to (laavu).

Prices for meeting packages starting from 20€/person include a meeting room, internet connection and coffee. In the mode wireless internet connection and 55″ TV/display. Space rental from 30€/hour, catering from 10€/person.

If you wish, you can choose dining, accommodation and sauna treatments for the programme. Outdoor meetings on the back of a fat bike, kicksled or snowshoeing are also available through us! See more about what we have to offer for groups!

Local tastes

When you visit us, you don’t need to be hungry! Reserve meals for your stay, dine at local restaurants, or prepare your own meals.

In the kitchen you can always find coffee, tea and oatmeal ingredients. They are available to the guests.

A fridge and freezer (upstairs there’s a fridge with an icebox), microwave oven, coffee maker and electric kettle plus toaster are also provided.

The kitchen has basic utensils for ten, cooking utensils plus pots and pans and a frying pan.

Abundant breakfast basket, 13 € per guest

Includes rye and oat bread, sandwich spread, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, cheese, cold cuts, boiled egg, yoghurt, milk and juice.

You can reserve the breakfast basket from our online store.

Little better evening snack, 18 € per guest

This evening snack includes thin bread rolls of fish or meat, savoury pie, and fresh salad.

New sauna menus at Karkausmäki!

Sauna menus can now be purchased as evening meals for individual guests or groups for sauna evenings and parties. We prefer products from local producers.

Stay comfortably in the countryside

Karkausmäki Guesthouse offers 5 double rooms. All rooms have 2 single beds.

The accommodation always includes bed linen and towels, and a kitchen with utensils and dishes is at your disposal. The shared toilets and shower facilities are in the immediate vicinity of the rooms, across the corridor.

In the courtyard we also have a lean-to shelter and a mini camping site for three campers or caravan trailers.
